I believe in the power of sharing knowledge as a community and created presentations with an equity lens about navigating the tech industry and academia.
Here are a few slide decks from talks I’ve given ✨
Navigating your Tech Internship through Self-advocacy
June 2020
I started my internship at Remix in June 2020 and was reflecting on how much I’ve learned about self-advocacy through my previous internships as a Microsoft New Technologist and SurveyMonkey SWE intern, as well as through my participation in the CODE2040 fellowship.
I noticed how some of my friends who had tech internships for the first time this summer didn’t have conversations about what sort of questions they could ask, what to expect, and other questions I remember having my first summer at a tech company. I realized the reason why a lot of us don’t have these conversations is that we don’t have people to ask, a lot of us don’t have mentors/family members in our lives that had internships.
I hope that this can serve you if you’re going to start your internship, if you’ve already started and are looking for resources, or if you’re just curious what it means to advocate for yourself during an internship.
To Note: While this deck can serve all people who have an internship, it is specifically intended to support Black/Latinx individuals who have technical internships. ✨

Pair Programming - Reimagined
october 2019
I was the Director of Student Retention for the Hispanic Engineers and Scientists (H.E.S.) organization at UC Berkeley during the 2019-2020 school year. H.E.S. was invited to Cal Hacks, the world’s largest collegiate hackathon during the Fall 2019 semester, and I gave a talk at the hackathon.
During the school year, H.E.S. has done a lot of work to create programming to holistically support our members, from having tech companies host workshops to mental health events. Our values are centered around academically, emotionally, and professionally supporting and empowering our members, which also means that our values are centered around compassion, community-care, and courage. Here’s one way that we want to incorporate those same values into the programming space!
